Sculpting Process

In the Studio: For many of the sculptures I have developed a technique that starts with a free standing cylinder. Unlike using a standard armature, this allows me to work from both the inside and outside to form the piece. The sculptures are made from medium fire stoneware clays, and some paper clay. After firing they are surfaced with many materials including glaze, paint, pastel, pencils, oil pastels, wax, and other materials. Unless otherwise noted, the sculptures are for indoor use, although they can be designed and built for outdoor settings.
